Why a tooth needs one
Deep decay, a crack or an injury can let bacteria reach the pulp, the living tissue inside a tooth. A root canal removes that infected tissue before it spreads, and the tooth stays where it is.
What happens
- We numb the tooth.Local anaesthetic first, and sedation if you’d like it.
- We clear out the infection.The damaged pulp comes out, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected.
- We seal it.The cleaned space is filled and sealed to keep bacteria out.
- We protect it.Many teeth need a crown afterwards. Our in-house lab can make a porcelain crown in one visit.
